Carlsbad (1-0) vs. No. 4 Santa Margarita (1-0)
7:30 P.M. SADDLEBACK COLLEGE
Santa Margarita puts its 26-game winning streak on the line. Carlsbad was picked to finish fifth in the rugged north San Diego County Avocado League by a preseason vote of league coaches, but it scored an impressive season-opening victory last week, defeating San Diego St. Augustine, 23-21, on a field goal by Mario Torres. Santa Margarita received a good defensive effort from its front line and stopped Compton Dominguez, 13-8. The Eagles held Dominguez to 105 total yards. If Santa Margarita quarterback Greg Orlando’s passing game gets untracked, Carlsbad could be in for a rough night.
