Antonovich Proposes ‘D’ Restaurant Grade
Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich said Tuesday he wants the report card on restaurants expanded to include a “D” grade, and places that receive such a grade to be closed.
Restaurants that score below 70% (a “C”) on health inspections now receive a card with their score rather than a letter grade.
“The consumer is looking for the letter grade,” Antonovich said. “Any restaurant receiving less than 70% has an easy ‘out’ under the current ordinance.
“However, under my proposal, those restaurants will be forced to close their doors until they have at least a 70% compliance with health laws.”
