Suspect Arrested in Apartment Robberies

A man has been arrested in connection with a series of home-invasion robberies in which a Ventura apartment was robbed three times in three days, police said Thursday.

Anthony Steven Holley, 29, was already in custody on a parole violation when he was rearrested Tuesday night on suspicion of robbery, Ventura Police Sgt. Bob Anderson said. Holley is being held without bail.

Investigators believe Holley and Anthony Edward Coleman, 32, stole wallets and a gun from an apartment shared by two men in the 300 block of South Hurst Street in Ventura. The break-in occurred about 1:35 p.m. Sept. 14.

Coleman was arrested later that day after reportedly returning alone to the same apartment armed with a handgun, Anderson said. During the robbery, authorities said, Coleman was shot in the leg and torso by one of the residents.

Coleman was treated at Ventura County Medical Center until Monday, when he was booked into jail. He is also being held without bail on suspicion of robbery and a parole violation.

Also, Coleman and another man are suspected of bursting into the same Hurst Street apartment Sept. 12. During that robbery, the residents were detained at knifepoint while the robbers stole $5,200 in clothes and other items, police said.

Some of the stolen items were recovered from a stolen Ford Explorer that was used as the getaway vehicle, police said. The Explorer was new and had been reported stolen Sept. 10 from a dealership in San Diego.

The second suspect in the Sept. 12 break-in was still being sought Thursday, police said.
