Coupons at Your Command
Good news for bargain hunters: There’s an untapped bounty of money-saving coupons available online.
Online coupons offer savings on everything from grocery store purchases to restaurant meals. Trouble is, according to the New York-based NPD Group Inc., less than half of Internet users who clip coupons know about their online counterparts, which can be printed from the screen.
Surfing the Web has been the primary way of discovering coupons online, according to the NPD Group, an international marketing firm. Nearly half of the 2,673 respondents said they learned about online coupons this way.
In fact, online coupons rank among the least popular ways to retrieve coupons, according to NPD research. Just 3% of consumers choose online coupons compared to 48% who get coupons from newspapers. Other ways of getting coupons include store circulars (26%), mail packs (12%) and magazines (4%), according to NPD research.
