In Sea View League girls’ swimming:
No. 1 Irvine 117.5, Newport Harbor 42.5--Erin Zehnter won the 200 individual medley and swam the second leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay team for Irvine (10-0, 5-0). The Vaqueros, who clinched the league’s dual-meet championship, also got multiple wins from Heidi Kraus and Amanda Beard.
In Orange League golf:
No. 2 Brea Olinda 180, Savanna 209--Seniors Dan Bender and Jon Magana each shot one-under 34 at Dad Miller for Brea Olinda (14-2, 7-0).
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 201, Trabuco Hills 219--Vince Pontino shot one-over 37 at Coto de Caza South to lead the Diablos (8-9, 4-5). Brett Armstrong and Carla Legaspi each shot 38 for Mission Viejo.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Aliso Niguel 196, Laguna Hills 212--Ryan Schuyler and Matt Schreiber each shot par 36 to lead Aliso Niguel (11-5, 6-2) at El Niguel.
In Golden West League softball:
Rosary 9, Santa Ana 0--Mallory Anderson struck out 10 in one-hitter for Rosary (15-8, 5-0). Anderson had three hits and two RBIs. Natalie Golda hit three doubles and had two RBIs and Samantha Jennings had three hits and scored two runs.
Ocean View 13, Saddleback 0 (5, mercy)--Senior Tia Jordan pitched her first no-hitter for Ocean View (11-11, 4-1). Jordan (9-7) had seven strikeouts in five innings. Sophomore third baseman Nikki Barton went four for four with two RBIs for the Seahawks.
Westminster 3, Tustin 0--Tina Tuskewicz (8-5) gave up only two hits for host Westminster (12-8-1, 3-2). Elizabeth Gonzalez hit a two-run single in the fifth.
In Pacific Coast League boys’ tennis:
No. 5 University 15, Aliso Niguel 3--Senior Greg Biorkman swept at No. 1 singles for University (13-3, 9-0).
In nonleague tennis:
No. 1 Corona del Mar 14, Sunny Hills 4--Senior Parker Collins swept, 6-0, 6-4, 6-1, for Corona del Mar (15-0, 8-0).
No. 2 Los Alamitos 11, Palos Verdes Peninsula 8--Sophomore Drew Hoskins won in singles, 6-0, 6-1, 6-3, for host Los Alamitos (14-1). Samir Vora and Michael Obradovich swept in doubles, 7-5, 6-2, 7-5, for the Griffins.
No. 10 Servite 10, Garden Grove 8--Freshman Pat Buchanan (46-1) won won 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 for host Servite (15-3, 9-0). Brock Heimann won 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 for the Friars.
In Empire League volleyball:
Kennedy 3, Loara 2--After losing the first two games and falling behind 11-1 in the third, Kennedy battled back and won 2-15, 17-19, 15-12, 16-14, 15-13. Senior outside hitter Rupesh Bhakta had 26 kills and senior David Suen, in his first match of the season, had 15 kills for Kennedy (8-7, 2-4).
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 3, Rancho Alamitos 0--Cuco Jasso had nine kills and Doug Baughman had eight as the Matadors won 15-11, 15-8, 15-4 to clinch their second title in three years. Bolsa Grande is 12-2, 9-1.
In the Pacific Coast League:
No. 10 University 3, Costa Mesa 1--Matt Larson led host University (13-3, 7-0), with 18 kills and Derek Tran had 13 as the Trojans won 15-4, 7-15, 15-8, 15-5. B.J. Lightvote had 18 kills for Costa Mesa (8-3, 4-3).
Aliso Niguel 3, Estancia 1--After losing the first game, Aliso Niguel (6-5, 3-4) won the next three for a 12-15, 15-9, 15-1, 15-5 victory. Junior outside hitter Tim Hefty had 22 kills for the Wolverines. Travis Balthasar’s 16 kills and Scott Sporleader had 10 kills.
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 3, Trabuco Hills 0--Jeff Taylor had 12 kills and Travis Niesen 10 to help visiting Mission Viejo, which won 15-10, 15-9, 15-9.
