Rambis Gets Winning Hit in Seventh Inning for Fountain Valley

Nicole Rambis’ run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Fountain Valley, ranked second in Orange County, a 1-0 victory over Huntington Beach in a Sunset League softball game Thursday.

Rambis’ single scored Christina Skaggs, who had tripled, for the host Barons (16-6, 6-0 in league). Colleen Burdick (12-2) pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts for Fountain Valley.

Huntington Beach is 8-14, 0-6.

In other Sunset League games:

No. 5 Marina 5, Edison 1--Natalie Bonillas had three hits, two runs scored and a run batted in for host Marina (15-9, 4-2).

In the Empire League:

Kennedy 3, Century 0--Michelle Turner (7-1) struck out 10 in a one-hitter for Kennedy (14-7, 6-0).

In the Garden Grove League:

Los Amigos 15, Bolsa Grande 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Freshman Kristen Orem (12-5) struck out eight of the 17 batters she faced in her third no-hitter for Los Amigos (13-7, 6-3).

In the Orange League:

Valencia 1, Savanna 0 (8)--Krystal Zavala hit a two-out double in the eighth to score Marisa Trevino from first for visiting Valencia (15-11, 5-1).

In the Pacific Coast League:

No. 10 Laguna Hills 7, University 0--Leslie Siemien had three hits and two runs scored for Laguna Hills (18-4-2, 6-0).

Estancia 2, Costa Mesa 0--Joanna Danner pitched her third no-hitter and struck out 12 for host Estancia (12-6, 4-2).

Aliso Niguel 15, Laguna Beach 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Sophomore Nicole Wiebort pitched a no-hitter for the Wolverines.
