Hines Horticulture Acquires Strong Lite

Irvine-based Hines Horticulture Inc. said Tuesday it acquired Strong Lite Inc., which produces and markets professional mixes using composted bark. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Hines said Strong Lite, which has annual sales of about $13 million, has operations in Pine Bluff, Ark., and Seneca, Ill. Hines Horticulture, a commercial nurseries operator, had 1998 sales of $235 million.
