The City Council recently adopted a resolution asking the county to place a lien on all properties that do not reimburse the city for its weed abatement efforts. The city asked 117 homeowners to clean their properties in the spring; nine refused. Weed abatement efforts during the 1998-99 fiscal year cost the city $4,582, the Public Works Department reported. The average cost per property was about $406, with one costing $837 to clean up.
