Hill Partnership Appoints Vice Presidents

* John Paris has been named vice president of Hill Partnership Inc., a Newport Beach architectural firm. Paris, who has been with the firm for nine years, specializes in medical and assisted living facilities. Mark Hendrickson has been appointed vice president/director of design. He has been with the firm 21 years.

* James R. Phillips has joined Scudder Kemper Investments Inc. in Costa Mesa as a director for Scudder Private Investment Counsel.

Phillips was formerly senior vice president and team manager of the Orange County office of Bank of America’s Private Bank. Before that, he spent 14 years at First Interstate Bank.

* Peter Hughes is the new director of internal audit for Orange County. He joined the county from the California Institute of Technology and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he was director of internal audit.

* Gertie R. Knox and John S. Schweisberger have been named partners in the Costa Mesa office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Knox, who joined in 1986, works in the global contractor compliance practice; Schweisberger joined in 1996 as a principal consultant.
