LAGUNA NIGUEL
Sheriff’s Deputy Barbara Murphy, an officer with the city’s Police Services Department, will receive a Gold Star award today from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for overall excellence.
Murphy has worked in the city for more than four years and has been with the Sheriff’s Department for 17 years.
She helped create a television program promoting public safety, is heavily involved in the city’s schools and has headed the city’s annual Red Alert Safety Fair, said Lt. Linda Spreine, police chief for the city.
