Architects have started to design a state park at the 300-acre Olinda Ranch development on the city’s hillside. The Brea Historic Park will feature historical exhibits and open space. It is expected to be completed sometime next year, according to a city document.

The state Department of Parks and Recreation, the city and the Brea Historical Society will jointly operate the park. The state will patrol the park, maintain the buildings and run a ranger station from the area. The historical society also will have offices on site. The city will pay for water, electricity, gas and landscape maintenance for the park.
