World IN BRIEF / MACEDONIA : Official Dies in Crash With KFOR Van
A Macedonian official and two members of his family died when their car collided head-on with a van driven by NATO-led peacekeepers. Officials with KFOR, the Kosovo peace force, confirmed the report by Macedonian state radio, which said Radovan Stojkovski, a minister without portfolio; his wife, Rumena; and daughter Despina died in the accident on a main highway about 20 miles southeast of Skopje. KFOR has a logistics base in Macedonia. The KFOR van, heading to Skopje, entered the wrong highway lane and hit Stojkovski’s car, which was going in the opposite direction, the report said. Lt. Collin Stone, a KFOR spokesman, said the two Norwegian officers in the van were injured, one seriously. Stojkovski’s son, Stojan, and their driver, Vojislav Pavlov, also were injured, the report said.
