Amgen Sponsors Habitat Project
Amgen is sponsoring the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home in Piru, by donating $77,000 and providing several volunteers.
The house, which is expected to take six months to construct, is one of 22 homes to be built for low-income families in Ventura County.
The cost of construction is estimated at $70,000, and the remaining $7,000 will go to a Habitat for Humanity chapter in Puerto Rico.
“We are very pleased to be able to make this donation to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity,” said Linda Hodge, president of the Amgen Foundation, a nonprofit arm of Amgen. “And we are gratified to know that the Amgen Foundation will make a substantial difference in at least one family’s life.”
Habitat for Humanity, which has built 13 homes in Ventura County, aims to eliminate substandard and poverty housing in the county.
