WATER POLO
The U.S. women’s national water polo team hosts the UPS Holiday Cup today through Sunday at the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center.
Some of the best teams in the world will participate. County athletes on the U.S. team include Robin Beauregard (Huntington Beach), Bernie Orwig (Anaheim) and Julie Swail (Placentia).
The daily schedule:
Today: 10:30 a.m.--USA B vs. Australia; noon--Canada vs. Holland; 1:30 p.m.--USA A vs. Russia.
Thursday: 4 p.m.--USA B vs. Canada; 5:30--Australia vs. Russia; 7--USA A vs. Holland.
Friday: 4 p.m.--USA B vs. Holland; 5:30--Russia vs. Canada; 7--USA A vs. Australia.
Saturday: 9 a.m.--USA A vs. USA B; 10:15--Russia vs. Holland; 11:30--Canada vs. Australia; 4 p.m.--USA B vs. Russia; 5:30--Holland vs. Australia; 7--USA A vs. Canada.
Sunday: 10 a.m.--fifth-place game; 11:30--third-place game; 1 p.m.--championship game.
