Police Seek Man in Co-Worker’s Death
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Canoga Park man who allegedly killed a co-worker after a company holiday party, police said Tuesday.
Jesus Jose Vazquez, 36, is wanted in the fatal shooting of Gabriel Gonzalez at Western Screenprint in Chatsworth on Dec. 17.
“We don’t know where he is . . .,” said Det. John Fleming of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division. “There’s reason to believe that he could still be in the Los Angeles area.”
During the party, Vazquez and Gonzalez, both supervisors at the company, went to the parking lot to drink alcohol, Fleming said.
“They got into an argument over who was the better supervisor,” he said.
Vazquez then left and allegedly returned with a handgun about 30 minutes later. Gonzalez, 50, of Reseda was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Fleming said.
No one at Western Screenprint could be reached for comment Tuesday.
Vazquez, who has a wife and 4-year-old son, is believed to be in hiding with his family, Fleming said.
He uses the alias Jose Balandra and at other times uses Jose as his first name, Fleming said. He is 5 feet 9 and weighs about 200 pounds.
Anyone with more information is asked to call Fleming at (818) 756-8291 during the workday or (818) 756-8285 after hours.
