Plan to Rename Park for ‘Flo-Jo’ Studied
MISSION VIEJO — The City Council wants to rename all or part of Olympiad Park after the late Florence Griffith Joyner.
The Olympic medal winner and Mission Viejo resident, who was known as “Flo-Jo,” died of a heart ailment in September. In March, the city’s Community Services Commission will consider the details for renaming the 11-acre park, scheduled to be built later this year.
