Photographs Focus on Blues Legacy
“State of the Blues: The Living Legacy of the Delta,” an exhibition of 125 photographs by Jeff Dunas, goes on view today through March 28 at the California African-American Museum in Exposition Park.
The images feature intimate portraits of blues giants and landmarks of what’s known as the “Blues Highway”--a sort of heritage trail through the American South.
Organized by the Aperture Foundation, the traveling exhibition is co-produced by the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, Miss.
The museum will also feature two “State of the Blues” family programs: a March 13 (2 p.m.) program featuring blues man and storyteller Mighty Mo’ Rogers, and a March 27 (1 p.m.) demonstration by instrument-maker Rasheed Ali.
Admission is free to both the exhibition and family programs, and the museum is open Tuesdays-Sundays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
