Driver Accused of Dragging Officer With Porsche
NEWPORT BEACH — An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for a driver who failed to show up in court on charges that he dragged a police officer with his Porsche after a Dec. 20 traffic stop.
Officials said Jeffrey Wayne Minor, 30, who has a long history of drunk driving, was due in Harbor Court in Newport Beach for a pretrial hearing on charges of felony assault and hit-and-run.
They said he also had failed to appear last week at a scheduled probation hearing in Riverside County.
Newport Beach Police Lt. Doug Fletcher said Minor’s whereabouts are unknown. Minor’s bail has been set at $250,000.
Police said that after being stopped for a suspected traffic violation two months ago, Minor dragged a woman officer who was hanging on to his car for about 70 feet until she fell to the ground. The officer was not seriously injured.
