Women’s Basketball
Thieme led the Titans in scoring in their two games last week in the Montana Lady Griz Holiday Classic, and was chosen to the all-tournament team. She had 18 points and five rebounds in a 70-48 loss to Montana and had 17 points and five rebounds in a 67-57 loss to St. Bonaventure.
THIS WEEK
Men’s basketball: The Titans (6-4) begin Big West Conference play at home, facing New Mexico State (7-5) Thursday and North Texas (0-10) Saturday. Both games begin at 7 p.m. The Titans are 5-0 at home and 1-4 on the road. Ike Harmon leads the Titans in scoring with a 13.9-point average. Mark Murphy’s shooting has picked up in the last three games. He is a combined 14 of 28 from the field, including eight of 18 on three-pointers.
Women’s basketball: The Titans (2-9) have lost five in a row. Fullerton opens Big West Conference play this week on the road. The Titans play at New Mexico State (3-9) Friday and at Nevada (4-7) Sunday.
Women’s gymnastics: The Titans open their season at 7 p.m. Friday in Titan Gym against UCLA. Fullerton has been troubled by injuries. The latest came over the holiday break when Melissa Lewis tore a knee ligament working out at home in Scottsdale, Ariz. Marianne Griffen, Elizabeth Schneider and Katie Antolin also have been injured.
Wrestling: The Titans meet San Francisco State at 7:30 tonight in Titan Gym. All-American Joey Coughran has a 13-1 record at 141 pounds.
