When Ugly Duckling Corp. asked to operate a used car dealership out of an existing commercial building at 11792 Beach Boulevard, a few planning commissioners thought the Ugly Duckling colors planned for the storefront were, well, ugly.
Commission Chairman Don Martinez said the used car lot colors are appropriate for Los Angeles but not for Stanton. But Commissioner Edward Royce reminded his colleagues that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In the end, the commission unanimously approved Ugly Duckling’s move into the city.
