1 Killed, Another Hurt in Gang Shooting, Police Say
A Sun Valley man was fatally shot and another wounded in what is believed to be a gang-related shooting in North Hollywood, officials said Monday.
The two men were walking along the side of the road near the intersection of Saticoy Street and Laurel Canyon Boulevard when two men, who were later seen fleeing in a green pickup truck with a camper shell, walked up and shot them around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles Police Capt. Greg Myer.
Hector Manuel Aguilar, 23, shot once in the chest, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, he said.
His companion, whose identity police declined to release, was wounded in the leg and taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
Detectives are questioning several witnesses, Myer said.
