Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. has filed suit in U.S. District Court in San Francisco against San Mateo-based Connectix Corp. The action alleges copyright and intellectual property infringement related to the recently released Virtual Game Station emulator software that lets PlayStation fans use certain game CDs on Macintosh computers. “This product does not accurately emulate the PlayStation gaming experience,” said Sony spokeswoman Molly Smith. “It’s detrimental to consumers to have a substandard potential product out there.” Connectix disputes the charges and contends that its software would drive up sales of PlayStation games.
