Burn Victims’ Verdict
It’s common knowledge that the penalty must reflect the weight of crimes committed. In the Anderson family’s case (July 10), six burn victims were awarded $4.9 billion in damage and punitive awards. I can’t see any justice. It is totally out of proportion. In a car crash like this, the culprit should be the driver who is liable for the accident. After all, if the award should ever be executed, it’s the car-buying public who must bear the burden of paying the award, not the car company.
