WESTMINSTER
Residents near McFadden Avenue and Gothard Street are protesting a plan by Golden West College to lease some of its land for the development of 140 apartments.
“Traffic around here is going to be terrible,” said Donna French, a resident on nearby Rockmont Avenue.
“Essentially, the college needs the revenue,” said Marc Posner, a spokesperson for the college. The zoning of the land does not have to be changed but would be subject to permit requirements locally and from the state, and all access would be off Gothard Street, he said.
The 7 1/2 acres of land for the project borders Westminster but is located in Huntington Beach and is administered by the Coast Community College District.
