5 People Arrested in Home Burglaries
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies arrested two adults and three juveniles on suspicion of committing seven residential burglaries in the city’s Mission Oaks area.
Alex Brett, 21, of Camarillo, Lori Turner, 20, of Simi Valley and two of the juveniles were arrested about 3:50 p.m. during a traffic stop at Arneill Road and Ponderosa Drive in Camarillo, said Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Larry Kelley.
The names of the juveniles were not released.
Authorities said about $18,000 worth of property had been stolen from since mid-May.
A merchant in the area called the Sheriff’s Department after Brett and Turner allegedly attempted to sell some of the stolen items, sheriff’s officials said.
“They were no longer at the business when we responded,” said Sheriff’s Cmdr. Craig Husband. “We received a second call from a resident who said he saw the suspects with items in a van at a different location.”
All of the occupants were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and taken to the Camarillo substation for questioning.
At the station, deputies arrested the two juvenile suspects in the burglaries and released them to their parents.
A third juvenile was identified and later arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property and taken to Juvenile Hall. Brett and Turner were being held at a detention facility, authorities said.
