The city is planning to out-source management of the annual La Palma Days parade to save the Recreation Department from the crush of work involved in organizing the event. Despite criticism from some citizens who feared that volunteers would be shut out of the process, the City Council set aside $6,000 for a private company to help coordinate the event. The council said the city and its citizens would retain control of the parade, but would simply shift some of the paperwork and coordinating activities to the company.
