Men Rob Military Vehicle, Kill Two
Six armed men held up a military vehicle near the presidential residence, making off with the presidential guard payroll. Two officers were killed and one was wounded in a shootout, authorities said. City police said the holdup occurred about a block from the presidential residence of Los Pinos. A small group of army officers had withdrawn the payroll cash from a nearby bank branch, and they were on their way to their barracks when the gunmen, following in two civilian vehicles, intercepted them and started shooting. Eduardo Caloso and Augusto Bartolo were killed, the state news agency Notimex reported.
