How refreshing in an age of blond Hollywood “bimbettes” to have Annette Bening grace the cover of your magazine (“Taking a Dare,” by Elaine Dutka, Feb. 21). Dutka has captured the essence of Bening’s intelligence, individuality and creativity in combining a career and a family.

Bening is a wonderful actress, and I am looking forward to seeing her in Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler.”
I don’t mean to be a nit-picker, but I hope that Bening’s lack of grief when her dog died will not deter her from letting her children experience the pleasure of owning a dog, or any animal, as a pet.
