Palisades’ Drive for Five Must Pass Granada Hills
The Palisades boys’ tennis team will try to win its fifth consecutive City Section title today when the Dolphins meet Granada Hills in the championship match at Meridian’s Tennis L.A.
Palisades (13-2), which suffered its only losses against Southern Section schools Harvard-Westlake and Beverly Hills, is led by singles players Artin Tafazoli, Ricky Rollins, Jeff Melnick and Barzin Pakandam.
The Dolphins are also strong in doubles with Blake Baumgarten and Peter Shirley; Matt Berman and Alex Leb; and Philip Jerjeu and Stan Kosynsk.
Palisades defeated Van Nuys Grant and University to reach the final. Granada Hills beat Carson and Woodland Hills El Camino Real.
Hamilton plays Van Nuys for the Division championship.

Eleven girls, including top qualifier Heeyoung Cho of Marshall, will take part in the City Section girls’ golf tournament Monday at Hansen Dam.
Cho shot a one-over-par 76 Monday at Hansen Dam, finishing three-strokes ahead of defending champion Saki Uechi of Granada Hills.
Julie Park of Granada Hills was third with an 80 and Tierra Manigault and Joi Hart of Westchester shot 81 and 84, respectively.
Other girls who will participate in the final are Jackie Dickenson and Susan Shein of Chatsworth, Jenette Manlapaz and Minhee Hwang (Van Nuys Birmingham), Stacy Low of Van Nuys Grant and Yuri Park (Van Nuys).

Eighth-seeded Venice travels to top-seeded Monroe tonight for a boys’ volleyball quarterfinal.
Other Championship bracket quarterfinals: Chatsworth at Garfield; Poly at Granada Hills; Palisades at Taft.
Division bracket quarterfinals: North Hollywood at Kennedy; Belmont at Canoga Park; University at Eagle Rock; Carson at Hamilton.
