Camarillo Man Is Arrested in Bank Vandalism
THOUSAND OAKS — A man angry about being involved in a protracted lawsuit with Citibank broke into the company’s bank branch in Thousand Oaks on Sunday and used a sledgehammer to damage several computers, authorities said.
Peter Zeppeiro, 31, of Camarillo was arrested shortly after 6 a.m. after a resident saw him smashing windows at the branch at 974 Westlake Blvd., Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Meyers said.
When deputies arrived, they found Zeppeiro standing inside the bank, according to Meyers.
“Zeppeiro stated he had been involved in litigation with the bank for a long time and he was angry,” Meyers said.
Deputies did not know if Zeppeiro had sued the bank or was being sued.
Damage to the windows and computers was estimated at more than $5,000, Meyers said.
Zeppeiro remained in jail Sunday night in lieu of $20,000 bail. He was being held on suspicion of burglary and felony vandalism.
