“Crime Rates Continue Record 7-Year Plunge” (May 17) had The Times all but bubbling over with the message that those of us who think crime is a problem have a perception problem. But buried among all your feel-good statistics was this: Crime is now at the level it was in 1964. It was too high in 1964 and it’s too high now.
