Glendale’s Barrett Takes Assistant Job
Denny Barrett, who coached Glendale College to consecutive Western State Conference Southern Division championships, has resigned to become an assistant baseball coach at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.
Barrett, who played baseball at Notre Dame High and coached at Chaminade, will serve as recruiting coordinator. Glendale has yet to select a replacement.
* Matt Hellman, an All-Western State Conference center fielder from Glendale College, has signed with Cal State Northridge. Hellman played at Burroughs High.
* Seven former players at College of the Canyons are competing in college world series this week.
Luis Sanchez and Robbie Rehfeld play for Chico State, which is in the NCAA Division II World Series.
Rick Nadeau, Kris Yeaman and Chris Baker play for Oklahoma City, which is in the NAIA World Series.
Eddie Romero and Wayne Mahaffey play for Cal Lutheran, which is in the NCAA Division III World Series.
