THE SAFETY ZONE: ACTION LOG
The Times Orange County publishes a daily list of police incident reports provided by local law enforcement agencies. The Times prints items as soon as departments make them available. Because many departments release incident reports only weekly, not every community will be represented in each day’s Action Log. Authorities from the following cities released incident reports over the weekend:
ANAHEIM
* Santa Ana Freeway: Three people were injured in an accident in the northbound lanes near Lincoln Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
* Mallul Drive: Police were looking for a man in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred in the 2100 block at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the man--described as Latino, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10, thin, clean shaven, with a light complexion--shot and injured two men. The man was last seen driving north on Mallul Drive in a dark blue or black four-door Nissan Sentra.
BREA
* Imperial Highway: Report of vandalism in the 400 block at 9:43 a.m. Tuesday.
BUENA PARK
* Lincoln Avenue: Report of a loud party in the 6300 block at 1:34 a.m. Sunday. The party had broken up by the time officers arrived.
* Holder Street at San Pablo Drive: Report of two teens rolling a large rock down the street at 1:11 a.m. Sunday. Police were unable to locate the teens or the boulder.
* El Centro Way: Police detained about 15 partygoers for loitering in the 7400 block at 1:03 a.m. Sunday. No one was arrested.
* Ball Road: Report of possible drug activity in the 6700 block at 11:37 p.m. Tuesday.
* Beach Boulevard at Cameron Drive: Report of six juveniles skateboarding in the flood control channel at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday.
* Via Vista Drive: A caller reported at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday that someone had stolen a bat from the frontyard. The silver boy’s bat had “Redline” written in red.
CYPRESS
* Santa Clara Street at Cerritos Avenue: A man was beaten by two teens who tried to rob him at gunpoint as he painted his house at 1:10 a.m. Friday. When the robbers approached the man, one of them pointed a gun at him and demanded money, but he fought for control of the weapon and was beaten. They fled without stealing anything in a vehicle driven by a third suspect, apparently when they heard police sirens.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY
* Edinger Avenue: Someone used a tool to pry open a rear door of Chelsea Studio, a business in the 9100 block, at 3:31 p.m. Wednesday. An alarm sounded and the person fled without taking anything.
FULLERTON
* West Commonwealth Avenue: Report that about eight alleged gang members were fighting in the 1800 block at 1:19 a.m. Saturday. There was no one around when officers arrived.
HUNTINGTON BEACH
* Pipeline Lane: Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a man suspected in the manufacture and sale of methamphetamines. Police said Curt Leslie Dell, 44, fled a lab in the 15300 block when officers uncovered the drug operation May 19. A large number of weapons and drugs were seized, and Dell’s son was taken into protective custody, police said. Dell is described as white with brown hair, blue eyes, 6 feet 2 and 190 pounds. He is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call (714) 960-8825.
* Warner Avenue at Edwards Street: Someone threw a burning carton out the driver’s window at a stoplight at 8:11 p.m. Tuesday.
IRVINE
* Briarwood: A vehicle burglary was reported in the 18 block at 5:04 a.m. Friday; a laptop computer and briefcase valued at $2,000 were stolen.
* Ashwood: A resident reported losing a pair of diamond stud earrings worth $3,000 while playing football in the 30 block at 4:47 p.m. Thursday.
* Geneva Street: The rear sliding door of a residence in the 14000 block was pried open, and a watch, diamond ring and camcorder were reported stolen at 2:55 p.m. Thursday.
* Von Karman Avenue: A Toshiba lap-top computer worth $5,000 was reported stolen from a locked cabinet at a business in the 18000 block at 11:37 a.m. Thursday. There were no signs of forced entry.
* San Leon: A vehicle was reportedly keyed and its tires slashed in the 50 block at 9:23 a.m. Thursday.
* MacArthur Boulevard: Report of two newspaper delivery people having a fistfight in the 18000 block at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday.
LAGUNA BEACH
* North Main Beach at Pacific Coast Highway: Two teens, armed with a pistol and a knife, robbed a man of $200 in cash at 2 a.m. Sunday. The man had been walking along the beach after work when the robbers confronted him. There were no injuries.
* Cress at South Coast Highway: After receiving a report of three to four skinheads throwing cans and appearing agitated, police arrested a Laguna Beach woman on suspicion of possession of and being under the influence of a controlled substance at 3:48 p.m. Thursday.
LAKE FOREST
* Lake Forest Lane: Someone broke into a vehicle and stole miscellaneous property in the 22700 block at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
* Singingwoods Drive: A man reported that property was stolen from his vehicle, parked inside his garage in the 24900 block, at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday.
LA PALMA
* Orangethorpe at Valley View: A man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public at 3:39 a.m. Sunday.
* Moody Street at Orangethorpe Avenue: An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at 1:38 a.m. Friday.
* Moody Street: A woman in the 7000 block reported receiving annoying phone calls from a man at 3:26 p.m. Thursday.
MISSION VIEJO
* Trabuco Road: A Bank of America in the 26000 block was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money at 9:13 a.m. Friday. Sheriff’s Department officials said the robber gave a note to a teller and escaped with the money. No weapon was seen. The man was last spotted on Alicia Parkway heading toward the freeway. The robber is described as 50 to 60 years old, between 5 feet 8 and 6 feet 2, weighing about 220 pounds and wearing a blue jacket, bluejeans and a blue baseball cap.
NEWPORT BEACH
* Jamboree Road: Someone stole about $700 worth of audio equipment from the Hyatt Newporter, in the 1100 block, where a jazz festival was being held. The thefts probably occurred between 6:30 and 7 a.m. Saturday, police said.
PLACENTIA
* Jefferson Street: A burglary was reported in the 300 block at 6:42 p.m. Thursday.
* Orangethorpe Avenue: A burglary was reported in the 2000 block at 10:58 a.m. Thursday.
* Bagnall Avenue: A burglary was reported in the 200 block at 9:57 p.m. Thursday.
SANTA ANA
* West Pomona Street: Police arrested four people Friday and charged them with a three-month string of armed robberies at businesses. They were charged with armed robbery, attempted murder and kidnapping. One of the robberies occurred at a meat market on Pomona Street in the 100 block. Police searched a Santa Ana residence and found weapons and property that might have been involved in the robberies. Police said the suspects were involved in at least 11 armed robberies in which shots were fired at victims or into the air. In one robbery, a victim was shot in the head; in another, a victim was hit in the shoulder.
WESTMINSTER
* Magnolia Avenue: Police detained four juveniles for questioning in a stolen car case in the 15150 block at 3:30 a.m. Sunday. After a brief foot chase in which the juveniles scattered, police questioned and released the children to their parents.
YORBA LINDA
* Imperial Highway: Vandalism was reported in the 400 block at 9:43 a.m. Tuesday.
* Savi Ranch Parkway: Vandalism was reported in the 22000 block at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities from the following cities did not release incident reports over the weekend: Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Garden Grove, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, La Habra, Los Alamitos, Orange, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin and Villa Park.
