Will Wonders Never Cease?
As a tribute to human achievement, the ancient Greeks compiled a list of what became known as the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Temple of Artemis, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Surprisingly, no one has finalized a parallel list of extraordinary structures in modern America. So, we have few nominees. Calendar Live took to the freeways and found seven wonders of Southern California that would have made the Ancient Greeks proud . . . well, maybe.
