Santa Paula High School is one of five schools nationwide to be given a 1999 School of Excellence Award by Hispanic Magazine.

The awards, which have been handed out by the magazine since 1993, are a way of recognizing five schools that offer outstanding programs to prepare youth for the 21st century.

“I am delighted to serve as principal of Santa Paula High School at a time when the school is being honored with so many prestigious honors like the School of Excellence Award,” said Principal Antonio Gaitan.

The schools are selected based on nine components, including student achievement, curriculum and leadership.
