Young’s Status Still Undetermined

Steve Young of the San Francisco 49ers, sidelined by his fourth concussion in three years, underwent a series of tests and will visit with his neurologist today to try to decide whether he can resume playing.
Even if Stanford neurosurgeon Gary Steinberg clears Young to return, Coach Steve Mariucci left open the possibility of holding the quarterback out for another week as a precaution and again starting Jeff Garcia.

Coach Bobby Ross of the Detroit Lions was fined $10,000 for criticizing the officiating in his team’s 31-21 loss to the Chiefs on Sept. 26.
