City Donates 50 Personal Computers

About 50 personal computers are available free of charge to private schools and nonprofit groups based in Simi Valley.

City Manager Mike Sedell said the city is giving away the model 486 PCs because they are not sufficiently advanced to operate the software now used by local government. However, the computers are advanced enough to run many word processing and graphics programs.

The only software included with the computers is Window 95. Most of the computers come with a color monitor. Printers are not included.

Interested groups should request application forms through the city’s General Services Department at 583-6749. Applications must be received by Nov. 15.
