Maria Yzaguirre, a Piru homemaker, died Sunday. She was 94.

Yzaguirre, a 63-year resident of Ventura County, was born Oct. 7, 1905, in Mexico. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society in Piru.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, keeping up on current affairs and reading, as well as spending time with her family.

Yzaguirre also cooked and knitted for her large family.

Yzaguirre is survived by her sons, Eliceo “Alex” of Santa Paula; Santiago “Jim” of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Ted and Victor, both of Ventura; and Carlos “Felix” of Piru; a daughter, Margaret of Los Angeles; 27 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mateo; a daughter, Mary, and a granddaughter, Raquel.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary. A vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Paula, where the funeral Mass will be said on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
