Taft 42, Birmingham 19--Brandon Hance passed for 207 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns at Taft.
With Taft (4-4, 3-0) leading, 7-0, on a Lee Marks’ six-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, the Toreadors scored two second-quarter touchdowns in an 84-second span.
Hance, who completed 14 of 28 passes with one interception, connected with Chris Morgan on scoring plays of 36 and 44 yards for a 21-0 lead. Morgan had six catches for 129 yards.
Birmingham (2-6, 0-3) pulled to within 21-7 when Joe Harper hooked up with John Walker on a 45-yard scoring pass play with 1:16 to play in the first half.
Harper, who completed 15 of 28 passes for 195 yards, threw three touchdown passes to Walker. Walker had six catches for 109 yards.
Marks had 143 yards in 17 carries and scored his second touchdown in the final two minutes.
