PLACENTIA
The city’s historic Brower orange grove could one day be known as the Sunkist Orchard if a preservation organization has its way.
Preserve Our Past is seeking funding from Sunkist Growers for the $2-million ranch and orchard to protect the 3.66-acre estate from the bulldozer.
“A couple avenues of potential financial support have been found,” City Councilman Norman Z. Eckenrode said Monday.
The City Council will hold a study session at City Hall tonight to hear what steps Huntington Beach took in seeking sponsorship from Coca-Cola, and how the concept might be used in Placentia.
Preserve our Past has invited Public Enterprise, a business that coordinates public/private partnerships, to speak about the likelihood of getting a sponsor for the ranch.
