SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO

The first equestrian show of the season at Oaks/Blenheim Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park is scheduled to begin today.

More than 400 riders at various levels will participate in the Spring Classic, a hunter/jumper competition, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day until Sunday.

The hunter/jumper competitions use natural obstacles such as bushes and low trees that hunters would encounter.

The highlight of the competition will be the $25,000 World Cup Preview Grand Prix at 7 p.m. Saturday in the indoor arena.

There is no cost for watching any of the events except the Grand Prix, which will cost $5 and an additional $5 for parking. VIP tickets can be purchased for $50.

The riding park is at 30753 La Pata Ave., San Juan Capistrano.
