Second Big Lotto Winner Claims Prize
The second of two people who shared this week’s $23-million Lotto jackpot after buying tickets in Orange County came forward Friday to claim her prize.
Winner Judy Wade asked that no information about her be released, though, and she could not be reached for comment.
Wade chose a cash payout rather than take her prize in 26 annual payments, so she collected $3.9 million after taxes, California Lottery officials said.
The other winner, Bill Arsenault, 42, of Aliso Viejo, also chose the cash option. Wade bought her ticket at the Sav-On drugstore at 5385 Alton Parkway in Irvine, lottery officials said.
On Friday, the reclusive winner “came in quietly and claimed her prize and sped away,” said Norma Minas, a lottery spokeswoman. “Some people like their 15 minutes of fame, some don’t.”
