Thousand Oaks High scored three runs in the second inning to build an early lead and used a controversial pickoff in the seventh to hold off Simi Valley, 4-3, in a Marmonte League baseball game Friday at Thousand Oaks.

Simi Valley, which pulled within one run on a sacrifice fly by John Arisohn in the seventh, had the tying run on base with one out when Kyle Hendricks was picked off second by reliever Greg Simonetti.

Simi Valley Coach Joe Gordon protested the call, arguing Hendricks was forced off the bag during the tag.
