Senior right-hander Mike Ploharz of The Master’s College was selected NAIA Region 2 pitcher of the week after throwing a four-hitter with seven strikeouts in a 6-1 victory over Chapman.
Ploharz, from Clovis, is 7-0 with four complete games, including a shutout, and a 2.58 earned-run average.
Master’s, ranked No. 19 in the NAIA poll, hosts Cal Lutheran on Tuesday.

Mike Wertz and Kurt Fillmore continue their assault on the Master’s record book.
Wertz, a senior catcher, leads the Mustangs with a .429 batting average, nine home runs, 41 runs batted in and an .827 slugging percentage. He is on pace to establish season school records in each category.
Fillmore, a senior center fielder, is batting .404 with team-high totals of 12 doubles and 20 walks. He has scored a record 180 runs and needs two doubles to equal Aaron Penberthy’s career record of 46.
Fillmore, with 123 career stolen bases, is eight shy of the oldest career mark in the Master’s record book. Don Menez had 131 stolen bases from 1979-82.
Fillmore holds school records for walks with 149 and for being hit by pitches with 25.
