Villa Park High’s Mike Chansawangpuvana and May Mangkalakiri advanced to the quarterfinals of mixed doubles at the U.S. National Badminton Championships at the Orange County Badminton Club.
Chansawangpuvana, a sophomore, and Mangkalakiri a junior, defeated Riverside’s Tariq Wadood and Batool Tauseef of Westborough, Mass., 15-3, 12-15, 15-1.
Play continues today, with the finals starting at 11 a.m. Sunday.
