San Clemente Shuts Down El Toro, 1-0
Veronica Lauzon had two hits and scored the winning run as San Clemente defeated El Toro, 1-0, in a South Coast League softball game Friday at San Clemente.
In the top of the second inning, Lauzon doubled, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Brooke Dixon and scored on a single by Stephanie Ott. San Clemente improved to 5-9, 1-2.
El Toro is 2-11-1, 0-2.

Capistrano Valley 3, Mission Viejo 2--Christie Shedd had a two-run single as part of a three-run third inning for host Capistrano Valley (9-8, 2-0).
In the Garden Grove League:
Los Amigos 4, La Quinta 1--Monica Curiel hit the first home run of the season for visiting Los Amigos (6-8, 2-4), which had 13 hits.
In the Golden West League:
Santa Ana 5, Ocean View 0--Belinda Garcia, Michelle Paz and Maria DeLeon homered in a five-run sixth inning for visiting Santa Ana (5-9, 3-2).
In the Sea View League:
Aliso Niguel 1, Irvine 0--Freshman Amanda Samonte pitched a two-hitter without allowing a walk and Lindsay Schafer singled in Chezare Sievers in the sixth inning for visiting Aliso Niguel (11-4-1, 1-0).
No. 9 Laguna Hills 18, Newport Harbor 3--Erica Corley hit a first-inning grand slam for host Laguna Hills (13-5, 2-0), which had 20 hits.
In nonleague boys’ swimming:
Canyon 98, Buena Park 73--Junior Chris Meyer swam the fourth-fastest time in the county in the 200 individual medley (1:58.1), and also won the 100 butterfly (55.2) for host Canyon (5-2).
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
No. 8 Canyon 128, Buena Park 42--Senior Kristi Bartlett and sophomore Michelle Anderson recorded their first varsity victories for host Canyon (7-1). Bartlett won the 100 breaststroke (1:22.2) and Anderson won the 200 individual medley (2:34.0).
