What is the most important issue facing high school athletes today?

The most important issue facing high school athletes today is getting enough rest and not being fatigued. Many times student-athletes are involved in high honor classes and tend to have a lot of homework. Average students can have a lot of homework, too. I think trying to balance practice and school work is very hard. Many times the student-athletes do not get enough sleep and are fatigued. High school athletes face hard practices and then have to go home and do homework. The demands to perform athletically and academically can be stressful. Being able to balance school, sports and not be fatigued is the key.

I believe the most difficult thing for teenage athletes is to handle the pressure that goes along with playing a sport, and the constant pressure from doing well in school. Time management is probably one of the hardest things to deal with as a student athlete, and being able to stay focused in both areas is extremely difficult.

The thing that concerns me the most is going on to play after high school. After all the practicing and training, you kind of want to get something out of it. You should mainly do it for the fun, but it’s also nice to get that reward. I’ve decided to move back to Mexico to play at the Technological Institute of Monterey.

Not having enough time in the day. With morning workouts before school and two to three hour workouts after school, it limits your time to study and most importantly, enjoy yourself.
