Gurza Right On on ‘El Dorado’
Re “ ‘El Dorado’ Takes Low Road Toward Latinos,” April 18: Thanks again to Agustin Gurza for his column putting into words the feelings and thoughts of the Latino community.
How many more times will we “Chicanos/Latinos” have to put up with “Frito Bandito” stereotypes and the blatantly racist rationalizations of multimillionaire industry leaders who say this film “El Dorado” is just a “fantasy?”
I call on my Latino community to rise up and challenge this film and this industry and to speak with one voice and say: “Ya, basta! No more! Treat us with the respect and dignity that we deserve.”
