Dogs That Attack
Re “Hearing to Decide Fate of Pit Bulls,” April 12.
Why are the two pit bulls that attacked Acension Cervantes in February still alive while every day in our animal shelters innocent dogs are put to sleep?
There should be a one-strike law for dogs that attack a human, without provocation, severely enough for that person to require medical attention. The owners should also be fully responsible for all the costs of medical treatment of the injured person, and also be required to compensate the victim for any work days lost.
My heart goes out to Cervantes and all the other victims of dog attacks in Los Angeles. Enough!
