Feeling Better, Park Expected to Make Start Saturday
Pitcher Chan Ho Park, scratched from his last scheduled start because of flu-like symptoms, is expected to start Saturday against the New York Mets, a team official said.
Park, who complained of dizziness and nausea Wednesday, was unable to pitch against the Florida Marlins in the final game of a six-game trip.
Concerned other players might become ill, the Dodgers sent Park home on a commercial flight.
The right-hander felt better Thursday after taking medication and resting.
Team physician Michael Mellman would have examined Park had his condition not improved.
Park is 1-2 with a 3.14 earned-run average in his last five appearances against the Mets.
*
Left-hander Carlos Perez disappointed in his first meaningful relief appearance in Wednesday’s 10-4 victory.
He gave up a two-run home run to Kevin Millar in the sixth that tied the score, 3-3.
Perez had only relieved in games in which the Dodgers were routed.
He worked against the Marlins because right-hander Antonio Osuna had shoulder stiffness.
Perez had a 0.83 earned-run average in his first five relief appearances, including a streak of 13 2/3 scoreless innings.
The Marlins had three hits against Perez.
